A Jump Start Is Useful, but It Is Not a Diagnosis

Still, a jump start tells you only that the starter received extra power. It does not prove the battery is healthy. It also does not prove the alternator can recharge it. If the engine dies again shortly after the cables come off, or if the battery warning light stays on, the vehicle may need more than a fresh charge.
